Downtown Monte Carlo and Tennis Tournament Finals

Before the Final in Monte Carlo, we took the train from Nice to downtown Monte Carlo and took a long and leisurely walk through Monaco to the Country Club.  Monaco is beautiful and very small, so this is easy to do!

We started near the marina and yacht club to take a look at all of the amazing yachts and see where they are setting up for the Grand Prix to take place in a couple weeks.

Avenue Princess Grace runs along the coastline and is a very enjoyable walk, with stunning views.  A lot of the architecture here is so ornate and colorful, too.  I loved looking at all of the small details of buildings along the way.

Everyone was obsessed with the cars here and taking pictures with them, causing a lot of traffic jams!

Downtown was festively decorated for the tennis tournament.

The 2014 Monte Carlo Rolex Masters Final was all Swiss - #3 Wawrinka vs. #4 Federer.  The two are good friends and warmed up for the match together and had their pre-match meals together too.

Both players were visibly nervous in the first set and Federer took it 6-4.  In the 2nd, they seemed to relax a little bit and went to a tiebreaker.  I do not think they were both playing their best tennis against each other and in the tiebreak, Roger seemed tired and nervous, while Wawrinka started hitting with much more power and confidence.  This led to a couple of early breaks in the 3rd set and Wawrinka came out on top in the end.

It was great to see the two players hug at the end and it seemed like a special moment between the two when the Swiss National Anthem was played.

The Prince and Princess of Monaco were in attendance too and presented the trophies to Federer and Wawrinka.

Even though my favorite Federer did not win, I am so happy I was able to be there!

It was drizzling on and off in the 2nd set.
I would like this house :)
